FAQ

What are Powder Brows?

Powder Brows are a form of semi-permanent makeup (cosmetic tattoo). This process implants pigment under the surface of the skin. By using this technique, the result is a soft, powdery makeup look.

What is the difference between Powder Brows and Nano Brows?

Powder brow technique gives a soft, misty, powder filled brow similar to the look of makeup meaning the tails of the brow are darker, and fade into a light start to the brow, giving it a very subtle look. This technique offers full coverage as if using a brow makeup powder. Over time, pigment fades leaving the skin and your natural brows behind. Nano-Brows create hair-like strokes to mimic natural brow hair. This technique allows spacing between hair strokes for a realistic, natural look.

How long will my eyebrows last?

Brow treatments are considered semi-permanent. This means it is designed to fade overtime. Therefore, it is recommended to schedule a color refresh every 12-18 months. Fading will differ from client to client based on several things such as skin type and age. There are other factors including, sun exposure, skin care routine and time between appointments that will change the longevity of cosmetic brow services.

Which Brow service will work best for me?

All brow services work well with most types. It's mainly based on client preference when choosing which brow service. Clients with naturally oily skin are encouraged to do powder brows. Please look over pictures on our website as well as social media to determine which best fits your needs.

Please note: If you have had your eyebrows previously tattooed and are interested in a cover-up/re-work, you MUST call the salon. We cannot guarantee results for cases such as these and we must approve that your eyebrows are workable. In some cases where the previous work is too dark, dense, discolored, or large, tattoo removal will be highly recommended before we begin the cover-up/re-work. Previously tattooed areas and cover-ups will almost always require additional touch-ups for best results and will be charged accordingly. We do work with a reputable laser center that will remove old microblading or powder brows.

How many treatments are needed?

Our pricing includes two separate sessions (generally 6-8 weeks apart): The initial procedure, and the second session for touch up. Immediately after the procedure, the brows will look darker/thicker, and will gradually lighten during the first week of healing. Most clients are content with the final shade, while others may prefer a bolder, darker appearance. At the second session, we will assess the color retention as well as make changes as needed. It is important to understand that everyone heals differently and results will vary from client to client. If your new eyebrows do not recover perfectly the very first time, we can always go darker and make changes at your second session.

How long does the procedure take?

The entire procedure takes about 2-3 hours, this includes the consultation, mapping and color matching. This time is used to measure your individual facial shape and bone structure to create brows that are custom to you.

What should I do prior to my brow treatment?

Please review the pre-care information by clicking here: Brow Care.

How will I look immediately after? What is the healing process?

Your semi-permanent make-up will appear darker and also bolder than expected for the first few days. This will slowly lighten during the full healing process. Inflammation, as well as swelling and redness may be visible. To learn more about the healing process, click here: Brow Care.

What should I do after the procedure?

We have detailed post-care information here: Brow Care. It is mandatory to follow these instructions to ensure a comfortable healing process and to achieve the best results. If post care is not strictly followed, results will be compromised.

How will my brows look in the future?

During your visit, we will mix pigments to ensure the shade blends well with your existing eyebrows and hair color. Most brows will stay true to the original tattoo shade (when healed) for a year or more, but will naturally fade over time. There are some cases, however, where colors may fade to different tones due to the client's response to specific pigments (genetics, iron deficiencies, lifestyle, etc.). To keep your eyebrows looking their best, a refresher treatment is recommended every 1 to 2 years. It is important to remember that results will vary from client to client.

What should I know about long term care?

A good sunscreen should be applied daily AFTER healing and is required to help keep color true. As with any tattoo, sun exposure will make the color fade faster. Fading speed depends on your skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, pigment color used, broken capillaries, and if any chemical peels were done after your procedure, along with many other contributions. Products like retinol and exfoliants used on the brow area may accelerate fading. If you are planning a chemical peel, laser treatment or other medical procedure, please inform the technician that you have had a cosmetic tattoo. A careful application must be taken to avoid affecting the tattooed area. Also be aware that Botox may alter the shape and placement of the brows, especially if not correctly. We do work with an injector that specializes with clients that have cosmetic makeup.

Do you tattoo Men's brows?

We are happy to accommodate consultations for men interested in cosmetic tattooing. Brows for a man are just as important, and we are able to create a natural, masculine, custom brow to fit a male client.

Is the studio sanitary and safe?

Yes, a safe environment is our #1 priority. We only use single-use, disposable needles, and supplies. After every client, all needles are discarded safely and stations are thoroughly disinfected. We follow health department guidelines for sanitation and licensing is posted within the salon.

What factors will affect my cosmetic tattoo?

Following the pre-care and post care instructions is a MUST!

● Sunlight exposure: The sunlight will soften the look of your eyebrows, so sunscreen needs to be used (as soon as recovered) to prolong your enhancement.

● The regrowth of skin cells: The longer the regeneration takes, the longer the pigment holds. Every client is different in this 1 circumstance. Things that contribute to this would be using a retinol product near the brow area, and exfoliating the brow area to speed up regeneration of skin cells.

● The speed at which the skin absorbs the pigment: The slower the absorption, the longer the pigment will hold.

● The selection of color: Some colors fade quicker than others, e.g. a blonde color will fade quicker than a dark brown color.

● Bleeding throughout the procedure: Any bleeding during the tattooing treatment will lower the amount of pigment absorption. (Alcohol, as well as particular medications, work as blood-thinners and must not be taken a day or two before and after your procedure.)

How old do I have to be to get tattooed?

You must be 18 years or older to receive any service at Revive Beauty Studio. If you are under the age of 18 (a minor), please have your parent or legal guardian call to make an appointment and the parent must be there physically at the beginning of the appointment to sign paperwork.

Can I get tattooed if I am pregnant or nursing?

As a precaution, we do not perform cosmetic tattoo procedures on pregnant or nursing women. But we look forward to seeing you after you have the baby and are not nursing.
